Projects :: Renovation Family Room
This addition dated from the 1970s. It had been gutted by a previous homeowner and left unused and on heated for several decades. There were some structural and roofing problems that had to be addressed as well as other issues that occur with the aging of past work.
With all our structural problems taken care of, we set out to create a warm family room with the homeowner. We started by finding wood floors that matched the existing home (#1 select white oak). Then we created a bar area with granite counters, and maple cabinets. We deleted a window and added a stone fireplace with a rustic 4 inch thick solid Walnut mantle with the bark still attached. The overall effect has made the room the most popular destination in the house.
